I remember the most about Peeter´s fun and laughter when we worked together at FIU on some research projects. He could make work seem like play. He would invite us to NFL parties, and everyone would have a great time. He was such a caring person. May you rest in peace, Peeter.

Peeter Kirs was a very friendly and caring colleague. He loved to entertain and created ways for people to get together, laugh and have a good time. It is sad to hear of his death.

I knew Dr. Kirs best from the short periods he filled in for a fellow professor at UTEP, while she was ill. He was a funny guy, and I thought then that I'd have enjoyed his classes if I ever got the chance. We met a few more times over the years, but I really saw Andrea much more often. To Andrea, my condolences on your loss, and my ongoing sympathies as you go on. He will be missed by many, but by no one more than you.

Peeter was a former colleague and friend. He left this world far too soon. His memory will always be with me. Peeter was his own man. He did everything his own way. His thoughts and opinions were original, sometimes startling, always provocative, and always interesting. His attitude toward others was always positive, friendly, supportive, and encouraging. I hope there is an afterlife so I can shake his hand one more time.

I was a colleague of Peeter Kirs. We worked together and together with Godwin Udo published many academic articles. He was helpful, intelligent and polite. He was a good friend of mine. I will miss him

Dr. Kirs,
May you Rest In Peace and may God’s loving arms console your family. Although we did not get a chance to interact as much due to the pandemic, I am thankful for the opportunity to have met you and to have worked with you. I am sending you hugs all the way to heaven and prayers to your family. You will be missed.

Peeter was the most generous person we have ever met, and we will never forget him. He was generous not only in treating his friends every chance he got, but also with his time, with his energy, and and with his kind opinions of everyone he met. He prepared tirelessly for his Super Bowl parties with authentic Buffalo wings and treats from the two cities represented that year. Peeter generously organized things like Juri and Thea’s wedding, where everyone, including the preacher and guests, were on horseback. He was generous to his teaching colleagues, sharing slides that took him many hours to prepare, generous to his students with time and dedication, and to his research partners generously giving credit. Andrea was the love of his life, and we loved to see how she looked out for him and that she made him immensely happy. He was a great friend and will always be remembered and missed.

It is so hard to say anything meaningful about the passing of a friend. The words that I would like to say are to Peeter .I would hope that you know that, I loved you as a friend. Trusted your counsel. Reveled in your humor. Was impressed by your humanity. Amazed by your knowledge. How wonderful that for much of your life you were blessed with such a beautiful and loving wife, Andrea and your closest friend Kallol Bagchi. Tonight there is one more star in the heavens.
