Robert Hanlon

Robert E. (Bob) Hanlon 83 passed onto our Lord on Nov. 9, 2012 due to respiratory complications/Alzheimer's born in Minneapolis, MN. on August 3, 1929 to Bernice and Patrick Hanlon. Bob grew up in Superior WI, where he met the love of his life Barbara Jean Stansky while on leave and they were married June 18, 1954. He entered the Army at age 17 and obtained the rank of Master Sgt at age 24, and retired as a CWO 2 in 1967. Bob served two tours in Germany and 13 months in Korea. He was a proud, patriotic conservative and Honorable Soldier, Faithful loving Husband, Devoted Father, Proud Grand Father, Great Grand Father, honest businessman and loved The Lord. He is preceded in death by his Brother Richard Hanlon and Nephew Timothy Nevala. Bob is survived by Barbara, his loving wife of 58 yrs, three sons: Patrick E. Hanlon and wife Janell, Midland, TX, Michael P. Hanlon and wife Jana, El Paso, TX and Timothy R. Hanlon, El Paso, TX, Two Daughters: Mary Kay Brown and husband Joe, Overland Park, KS and Ann Marie Fuentes and husband Steve, Bentonville, AR, Nine Grandchildren: Lindsay (Hanlon) Lester and husband Tiger, Casey (Hanlon) Whaley and husband Brian, Jaime (Longnecker) Hale and husband Bret, Chelsey Longnecker, Erica E. Hanlon, Robert T. Hanlon, Patrick Devlin Brown, Elizabeth, Libby Brown, Devon Jean Fuentes, Andre E. Fuentes, Melonie Benavides, Seven Great Grandchildren: Landon and Kylee Lester, Hunter Cramer, Mason Whaley, Liliana, Silas, and Levi Benavides, sister Mary Nevala and husband Marvin, Amery, WI and many nieces and nephews. After his Military career, he spent 20 years as Vice Pres. of manufacturing at Kessler Industries, then a third 15 year career as a Partner and Vice Pres, and General Mgr. of Kessler Transportation. He loved to work and was well respected by the many lives he touched. The family would like to thank Cal and Gerry Kessler for over 50 years of love and friendship, Hilda Consiglio, for all her meals and German Potato salad and being our children's "second mother". Larry Koch for his love and support of Bob in recent years and introducing him to "the old farts club", the kind and loving care given the last few weeks of his life by Frank Navarro and his many Angels at the Rose Dale Foster Home. Many good friends and neighbors and the enjoyment of being a member of two Roncalli Clubs over the past 43 years. Visitation will be from 1 to 5, Sunday Nov. 18, with Rosary being said by James Horan at 3 PM at the San Jose funeral Home East, 10950 Pellicano. Funeral Mass will be Monday Nov.19, 10:30AM, at St. Raphael Church, 2301 Zanzibar with Msgr. Francis Smith officiating and Soloist Patti Tiscareno. There will be a private family burial with full Military Honors at a later date.
