THERESA PLAZA

1930 - 2018

Theresa Dykes Plaza passed away on January 14, 2018 in El Paso at the age of 87. She was born October 12, 1930 in San Antonio, Texas and grew up in Chicago, Ill. She and her family moved to El Paso in 1970. She was devoted to children, especially those with special needs. She worked at Camp Kadima, a summer camp serving special needs children, and retired in 2001 from the El Paso Public School District after 21 years of working as a teacher's aide. She considered her children and grandchildren her greatest legacy. Preceding her in death were her parents, Carmen and Roy Dykes, her former husband, Arnold Plaza, son, Alexander Plaza, and brother, Robert Dykes. She is survived by her children: Marc Plaza, Melissa Ryan, Andrea Plaza, Marisusan Plaza and Arnold Plaza; her grandchildren, Clifton Dill, Max Dill, Austin Ryan, Jesse Plaza, Rae Plaza, Rebekah Plaza and Roman Plaza; her siblings, Carmel Hernandez, Nancy Groskopf, Marie Chopard, Roy Dykes and Rosemary Seymour; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A service will be held in April 2018 at Saint Patrick's Cathedral in El Paso.
