YVONNE CANO Obituary

Yvonne Cano, our amazing and devoted mother, grandmother, sibling and friend to many, went to be with Jesus on March 21, 2014 at the age of 61. Yvonne grew up in Marfa, TX and was a graduate of Marfa High School class of 1970. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the University of Texas at El Paso that helped to launch a successful and rewarding career in the nursing profession. She completed over 26 years as a school nurse in the El Paso Independent School District (EPISD), and will be fondly remembered for her dedication and commitment to her profession and for her devotion to her many students whom she cared for and supported during her tenure. Her profession of faith, love for others, servant heart and passion for helping those around her are a few qualities that made Yvonne such an exceptional person. Her heart was passionately fixed on heaven while her hand was purposefully working to produce fruit for His Kingdom. She is the daughter of the late Reymundo and Hortencia Ceniceros, the mother of Celani Marcotte, the mother-in-law of Thomas Marcotte and grandmother of Sadie Marcotte. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses Nora & Roger Reyes, Pearl & Ruben Nunez, Ruby & Roque Segura, Glenn & Rosa Ceniceros, former husband Tony Cano and 6 nieces and nephew. Fellowship was important to Yvonne, and she developed many close friends at EPISD and Jesus Chapel, which was her cherished place of worship. She often shared that she was blessed by her loving friends, many of who were part of her support system as she experienced the joys of life and tough times throughout her journey. Our family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support for Yvonne. We are profoundly thankful to everyone who has reached out to our family. Please join the family at her Celebration of Life Ceremony on April 12, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Jesus Chapel, 111 W. Sunset Road, El Paso, TX, 79922. In lieu of flowers, Yvonne requested that donations be made to Jesus Chapel in her memory either by mail or via the website at www.JesusChapelEP.com. We are all saddened by her passing, but we are celebrating her homecoming and know she is alive and in the arms of God. Her passing is not an end, but simply a continuation of His perfect plan for her and for us.

I am so sorry for your loss, Yvonne was such a wonderful person. She cared for all of my children in school and was a long time client and friend to me. She loved her work and all the children she cared for. I will miss her.

My friendship with Bonnie began back in 1964 when I moved to Marfa. We stayed good friends through out Jr & Hi School. I often thought of her and was glad to hear of her accomplishments (which was a natural for her) and all the friendships and love she shared with so many people. Yvonne was such a brave and beautiful soul and a great nurse. I don't know how many times I called her to help me out and she was so willing to share her knowledge.
