JIMMIE MCPHEARSON Obituary

JIMMIE K. MCPHEARSON Jimmie K. McPhearson, age 70 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Oct. 31, 2024 at his home after an extended illness. He was born Jan. 11, 1954 in Elwood, the son of Lloyd McPhearson and Patricia (Dillen) McPhearson-Jones. Jimmie graduated from Willkie High School before entering the U.S. Army and serving his country during the Korean War. He worked for Wickes Lumber Company in Elwood for 9 years in the truss facility and later worked for the Elwood Water Department for 10 years. Jimmie enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and watching football in his free time. He especially enjoyed NASCAR racing and formerly drove his own race car in local races. Jimmie served in the Indiana National Guard for several years and remained a proud U.S. veteran. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed. Jimmie's family includes a son, Jimi (Cheayla) McPhearson of Elwood; 3 step-children, Lisa (Randy) Hobbs, Amber (Jason) Sherrill, and Lonnie Miller all of Elwood; step-brother, Gary Hilton; 12 grandchildren, Kylee McPhearson, Anthony (Whitney) McPhearson, Mikhalee McPhearson, Brett Vinson, Bryce Vinson, Bryant Trinkle, Breylin Sherrill, Page Sherrill, Thomas Hazelwood, Xailayna Hazelwood, Ashley Farr, and Daniel Hobbs; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; former spouse and mother of his son, Elsie Lee "Judy" Casas; 5 siblings, Jon McPhearson, Anita Grant, Maggie Holderman, Sharon Shannon, and Luaina Severance; and step-daughter, Faye Miller. A memorial service celebrating Jimmie's life will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, Nov. 8, 2024 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Scott Blaylock of Life Church officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army and Elwood V.F.W. Honor Guard at the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 1pm to 3pm prior to the memorial on Friday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Forrestville Cemetery at a later date. Jimmie, was a great guy, good friend, a one of a kind, met/worked with him at the Elwood Utilities. Ran with him for several years. Have a lot of fond memories of him. Always called him "Jimmy Mac" or mostly the "King". Will be sadly missed. Thoughts and prayers with the family and friends.
