STEPHANIE KELICH Obituary

STEPHANIE L. KELICH Stephanie L. Kelich, age 60 of Elwood, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born Nov. 11, 1963 in Elwood, the daughter of John F. and Margaret Ann (Compton) Kelich. Stephanie was valedictorian of the graduating class of 1982 at Elwood Community High School. After high school, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Anderson University with a degree in chemistry and biology. She then completed her Master's degree at Ball State University. She retired after several years in research science on Nov. 1, 2022 from Indiana University as an MTA Contractor. She absolutely loved working in research science all her life. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Stephanie enjoyed spending time with her beloved cats, and was an avid reader. She loved farming with her dad and brothers. Stephanie's family includes 5 siblings, Cecelia M. Cage, Margaret Rose (husband David) Spaulding, Kevin M. (wife Cathy) Kelich, Jennifer L. Lemon, and Keith E. (with Tricia) Kelich; and numerous nieces and nephews. Stephanie was preceded in death by her parents and significant other of 25 years, Garth Lee in 2017. Stephanie's wishes were to be cremated and have no formal services. A private burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Elwood. Arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood. Memorial contributions are suggested to Riley Children's Hospital through the funeral home. I always enjoyed being around Stephanie. She had the greatest smile and sense of humor. She liked teasing me and I loved it. A great person has left us but is now happy and healthy again. In that I am happy.
