Rudy Scufsa Obituary

On July 19th, Heaven gained another pair of hardworking hands and a huge heart. Rudy Scufsa, the rock of our family, passed in the wee hours of the morning just shy of his 79th birthday. He joined his loved ones gone before him and left a family who dearly loved and respected him.
He was a loyal member of USX Steelworkers Union 1938 as a millwright/team leader for 35 years retiring in 2003. Upon retiring he had a second career being chief cook and bottle washer for a bunch of little old ladies and a couple men who resided with him and Sue at The Pines Foster Care Home for the next 15 years.
He is survived by his wife Sue of 61 years, son Michael, daughters Wendy Varey (son-in-law of the heart) Tom Meyers; and Amy (Bob)Kellogg; Denise Scufsa, daughter-in-law. Also, the loves of his life and legacy, his grandchildren Adam Meyers and Clayton Varey of Babbitt; Kali, Brady, Parker, and Reese Scufsa of Fargo; Cole and Courtney Kellogg (future grand son-in-law Marshall Murphy) of Minneapolis; and great granddaughter Kiley Hill of Hibbing; brother Bernie (Donna) of Cottage Grove. Last but not least, his brothers and sisters-in-law and several very much-loved nieces and nephews who were a huge part of his heart and life; and special cousin Dolly Shober. Family and special friends are where it was for Rudy.
He was preceded in death by his son Kevin Scufsa, grandson Zach Scufsa; parents Rudy Sr. and Angela (Flake) Scufsa, another set of parents Frank and Dolly Karasti (in-laws); sisters Theresa Kitchens, and Betty and brother-in-law Jim Povhe.
A celebration of life will be held at the Winton Community Building on Saturday, August 30 (Labor Day weekend) from 2 to 5 p.m. Alcohol free.
