Arthur F. Pecaut

1943 - 2018

Arthur F. Pecaut, 74, New Haven, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at his home.

Art, son of the late Francis Herbert Pecaut and wife Neomi H., nee Smith, was born Aug. 24, 1943, in Perryville. Art proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1967. He was able to take the Honor Flight in 2016 to Washington, D.C. Art was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, New Haven, a 50-year member of the New Haven American Legion and the V.F.W. in Washington. He was also a former alderman and mayor of New Haven.

Art worked as a machinist in the tool and die industry, and later became a quality control manager. In his free time, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's numerous activities, including volleyball games, dance recitals and various school programs.

Art is survived by two sons, Darin Pecaut and wife Rae Jean, New Haven, and Jason and Brittany Pecaut, Jefferson City, and five grandchildren, Kelsey, Natalie, McKenzie, Harper and Dash. He also is survived by a brother, Dale Pecaut and wife Carol, Houston, Texas, a sister, Shari Panhorst and husband George, New Haven, a brother, David Pecaut and wife Marlene, Marthasville, a brother, Randy Pecaut, Scottsboro, Ala., a sister, Debbie Oberg and husband Darrel, New Haven, a sister, Tammy Donaldson and husband Greg, Washington, and a sister, Julie Davis and husband Flynn, St. Charles; his former wife, Linda Pecaut, New Haven; two sisters-in-law, Cindy Pecaut, Berger, and Norma Pecaut, New Haven; many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Bonnie Vedder; two brothers, Tommy and Phil Pecaut; and one sister-in-law, Beth Pecaut.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 1, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 2, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, New Haven, with the Rev. David Poe officiating.

Burial, with full military honors, will be at New Haven Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the New Haven American Legion or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in care of Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home.
