Betty Lueker Obituary
Betty Lueker, nee Dreinhoefer, 81, Union, passed away Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021.
Betty, daughter of the late John Henry Dreinhoefer and wife Edna, nee Stock, was born Aug. 5, 1940, in Beaufort. Betty received her education in Union and graduated from Union High School in 1958. She then went on to Southwest Missouri State University to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education in 1962. She attended college with her best friends, Beverly and Arlene. They met Fran while at school, and the four became lifelong best friends. Betty was united in marriage to Allen Fred Lueker Nov. 28, 1963, at Leslie Methodist Church in Leslie. The couple made their home in Union. In 2008, the couple celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary with a surprise party hosted by their family and friends.
Betty was employed as an elementary school teacher at Coleman Elementary School in Gray Summit. She was later a substitute teacher and a certified medical assistant at Union Residential Care Center. She also volunteered at Mercy Hospital with the Washington Hospital Auxiliary. Betty was an avid community volunteer and belonged to the Union Kiwanis Club and the Red Hat Society, as well as St. Jordan's Church and later Zion United Church of Christ. She also belonged to Lost Valley and the McDonnell Douglas Camping Club. Betty enjoyed taking care of and baking with the neighborhood children, as well as being active at her church. Betty enjoyed cross stitch, crocheting, putting together jigsaw puzzles and playing the piano and singing for the residents at South Pointe Senior Living.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Susan Wilson and husband Don, Washington, and Amy Scott and husband Brian, Lee's Summit; one granddaughter, Hillary Scott, Lee's Summit; her siblings, Mary Wallin and husband Curt, Beaufort, and Louis Dreinhoefer and wife Patty, Friendsville, Tennessee; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Lueker, and her parents.
Visitation was held Friday Dec. 3, from 9-11 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ, Union, with a funeral service following at 11 a.m.
Burial followed at St. Jordan's Cemetery, Beaufort.
Memorials can be given to High Hill Christian Camp or Zion United Church of Christ.
The Lueker family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Union.
