Charlotte Meltabarger Obituary
Charlotte Rae Meltabarger, Union, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 17, 2022, in Gerald, to enter the loving arms of Jesus Christ after spending 64 years, 4 months, and 12 days enjoying life to its fullest and bringing much laughter and joy to those around her.
Charlotte was born Nov. 5, 1957, in St. Louis to William "Bill" Meltabarger and wife Glenda "Jean," nee Johnson. She grew up in the St. Louis area until the family moved to Villa Ridge in 1986. Charlotte loved to travel with her parents and other family members. She traveled by airplane, train and automobile to visit many different parts of the country. She worked for Sheltered Workshop in St. Charles for 8 years and then for Sheltered Workshop in Washington for 22 years. She loved her job and the people that she worked with.
Charlotte loved watching sports. She would watch her cousins play various sports on school leagues in their younger years, and she enjoyed watching professional sports in-person and on television. Charlotte was crazy about St. Louis Cardinals baseball. She got to meet many of the players throughout her life, including Bob Forsch, Ozzie Smith, Al Hrabosky, Kenny Reitz and Yogi Berra. Charlotte and her mother loved going to Busch Stadium to watch the Cardinals, but if she couldn't be there in person, Charlotte would watch them on television. When she wasn't watching sports, Charlotte also enjoyed making colored-glass art to share with her family members and friends.
The Meltabarger family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the dedicated healthcare providers who cared for Charlotte over the years, especially Courtney, Sarah, Michelle, Chrissy and Ashley at Aspire Senior Living of Gerald.
She is survived by her mother, Jean Meltabarger, Union; two aunts, Linda Cantrell, Blodgett, and Edris Horn, Holts Summit; many cousins; other relatives and several dear friends.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her father, William "Bill" Meltabarger; her grandparents, John and Dorothy Meltabarger and Clarence and Sally Johnson; and several aunts and uncles.
