Darlene Kriete Obituary
Darlene F. Kriete, nee Talbot, 92, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, in Washington.
Darlene was born May 11, 1928, to Harold Talbot and wife Glessner, nee Shankel. in Hiattville, Kan. She grew up in Bourbon County, Kan., and graduated from Bourbon County High School. Darlene was united in marriage to Ervin F. Kriete Oct. 26, 1967, in Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Olathe, Kan., and later moved to Blue Springs.
Darlene worked as a nurse's aide and then became a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, canning and working with her husband on their 10-plus-acre farm in Blue Springs.
Darlene is survived by her son-in-law, Delbert "Dub" Metcalf, Fort Scott, Kan.; three grandchildren, Michael Metcalf (Michelle), Jacob Metcalf (Melissa) and Joshua Metcalf (Sara); one sister, Janice DeLoach (Darrel), St. Augustine, Fla.; one brother, Don Talbot (Lucy), Claremore, Okla.; stepchildren, Roger Kriete (Margie), Dale Kriete (Jennifer), Donah Gehlert (Steve), Susan Markuly, Gail Kriete and Sherry Schneider (Joe); one sister-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty" Dobsch, Washington; great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin F. Kriete; one daughter, Cheryl Metcalf, nee Sanders; parents; and five siblings, Lyle Talbot, Eavon Miller, Dale Talbot, Barbara Turner and Marilyn Volden.
Funeral services were private, and a private interment took place in St. Peter's United Church of Christ Cemetery in Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cedarcrest Manor-Activities Department, 324 W. Fifth St., Washington, MO 63090.
The Kriete family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home in Washington.
