Doris Narup Obituary
Doris, daughter of Harry Louis Friedel and wife Grace, nee Allen, was born July 2, 1933, near Union. She received her education at Indian Prairie Grade School and graduated from Union High School in 1950.
Doris was united in marriage to Herbert G. Narup on Sept. 22, 1956, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Union. Through this union, Doris was blessed with one daughter and one stepson.
Doris began her career working at Bourbeuse Shoe Company for two years. She then went to work for Hansen Title Company. In 1972, Doris took a position with the Franklin County Assessor's Office. She retired as deputy assessor after 20 years of service. Doris was active with the 4-H Club for many years and was a member of Piecemakers Quilt Club. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Union.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan Ketcherside, Union; stepson, Richard Narup, Union; granddaughter, Amy Ketcherside and fiance Mitch Olsen, Loves Park, Illinois; sister-in-law, Erma Friedel, Bonne Terre; nieces; nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Grace Friedel; her beloved husband, Herbert Narup, on Aug. 5, 2004; four brothers, Wiliard, Harry, and Lee Friedel, and Harold Schottmueller; two sisters, Evelyn Schroeder, and Thelma Dersham; and two siblings in infancy.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Union, with the Rev. Peter Blake officiating.
Burial followed at St. John the Baptist-Gildehaus Catholic Cemetery, Villa Ridge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church or St. John Gildehaus Cemetery Fund.
The Narup family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Union.
