Eldo Strubberg Obituary
Eldo, son of the late Edwin Strubberg and wife Rose, nee Gildehaus, was born May 20, 1931, in Washington. He received his education in Union, and graduated from Union High School in 1949. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. Eldo was united in marriage to Janette Dufner Sept. 21, 1952, at Immaculate Conception Church, Union. The couple made their home in Union. Eldo was the owner and operator of Strubberg Hardware Store, Union, until selling it in 2005. Eldo was a very active member of the Union community, and was a member of various civic organizations. He also served on the city council and various city committees. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Union.
Eldo was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Rose Strubberg; and two brothers, Melvin Strubberg and Ewald Strubberg.
He is survived by his wife, Janette Strubberg, Union; two sons, John Strubberg and wife Gail, Washington, and Bob Strubberg and wife Tracy, St. Louis; three daughters, Judy Fitzgerald, Ballwin, Susie Johnson and husband Ron, Gardner, Kan., and Lynn Lottmann and husband Dennis, Union; one brother, Leroy Strubberg and wife Ruth Ann, Union; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
A funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Immaculate Conception Church, with Monsignor Matthew Mitas officiating.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Masses may be said or memorials given to Immaculate Conception School or Kansas City Autism Training Center.
The Strubberg family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Union.
