Gary Hayes Obituary

Gary L. Hayes, 78, Washington, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, in Washington.

Gary, son of the late Stanley Hayes and wife Wilma (Patterson), was born July 30, 1943, in Washington. On Feb. 19, 2002, he was united in marriage to Gloria Maloney in Union.

Gary worked at Sunset Health Care in Union until his retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Hayes, Washington; two stepchildren, Keith Schatzler and wife Tanya, and Sue Whitaker, all of Union; one brother, Tim Hayes and wife Rita; two brothers-in-law, Leroy Morgan, Washington, and Bob Maloney and wife Lorena, Marthasville; two sisters-in-law, Dana Hayes, Marthasville, and Doris Reeder, Warrenton; five step-grandchildren, Jacob, Lucas, Libby and husband Dakota, Lisa and Robert; one great-grandson, Hunter; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Wilma Hayes, and five siblings, Betty Morgan, Larry Hayes, Jerry Hayes, Terry Hayes and Pam Hayes.

No services were held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Cancer Society are preferred.
