Janice Primeau Obituary

Janice Evelyn Primeau, nee Harter, 77, Union, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, at Life Care Center of Sullivan.

Janice was born Aug. 2, 1944, in London, England, to John E. and Evelyn E. (Greenough) Harter. Janice, along with her mother and brother, came to the United States in 1946 and traveled by train across the country to meet her father in Washington state after the war. She grew up in Cashmere, Washington, and later Kent, Washington, where she graduated from Kent Meridian High School in 1962. Furthering her education, she received her license to practice cosmetology. Janice was united in marriage to Tracy Meldahl in 1962 and had two children, Mike and Nicol. While in Washington, she had the opportunity to be a tour guide for the Seattle Center during the 1964 World's Fair, where she met and was kissed on the cheek by Elvis Presley. She was a busy mom, raising her children in Texas, Colorado and eventually settling in Missouri.

While living in St. Peters, Janice met Edward Primeau, and they were married Nov. 5, 1994. Ed helped raise her two youngest children, Erin and Adam. Janice was employed for many years by Famous Barr and Schnucks grocery store. During this time, Janice lived in Kirkwood and Robertsville before finally putting roots down in Union. Janice enjoyed playing in various bowling leagues. She loved to read, cook, garden and travel extensively. In her later years, Janice took to breeding dogs, particularly Shih Tzus, which members of the family now have as their beloved pets. Janice loved all types of animals.

Janice is survived by her husband of 27 years, Ed Primeau, Union; her four children, Mike (Debbie) Meldahl, Richmond, Kansas, Nicol (Jeff) Alvarez, Katy, Texas, Erin (Nick) Light, St. Clair, and Adam (Amy) Primeau, Labadie; 15 grandchildren, with another one on the way, Paige Alvarez, Jordan Alvarez, Brooke Alvarez, Eve Alvarez, Kris (Mike) Brown, Beth (Levi) Ahlin, Erin (Branden) Bryant, Sarah (Charles) Foster, Katelyn Meldahl, Halle Blankenship, Leah Light, Job Light, Samantha Hawkins, Lacey Hawkins and Olivia Primeau; five great-grandchildren, Tennyson, Whitley, Billy, Eddie and Jake; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Evelyn Harter, and one brother, Roy Greenough.
