Jeanette Miller Obituary

Jeanette LaVern Schroeder Miller, nee McKinney, 84, Washington, formerly of Union, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

Jeanette, daughter of the late Vernie L. Mckinney and Edna Jewell Mckinney, nee Eads, was born Sept. 13, 1937, in Rolla. She graduated from Union High School in 1955. She was united in marriage to Charles H. "Chuck" Schroeder on Sept. 27, 1958, and they were blessed with six children. Chuck passed away in 1994. Eight years later, she married Walter J. Miller.

Jeanette was a very busy stay-at-home mom when her children were young. When her boys wanted to join Cub Scouts, she became a den mother and had many memorable outings with her pack. One of her longest passions was her multiple card club groups, where many lifelong bonds were formed. Jeanette was a woman of many hats (literally and metaphorically). She enjoyed painting, sewing, volleyball, golf and going to antique shops. Halloween may have been her favorite holiday as she loved scary movies, and we all have memories of her in her many witch costumes. Jeanette belonged to the Jaycee Wives, held positions on the Union Ambulance and Park board and started an investment club. After a while, she worked alongside her husband at Schroeder Insurance and later took over the business.

She was very active at Immaculate Conception School and Church and was a longtime member of the Daughters of Isabella. Later, she became a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.

Jeanette is survived by six children, Jayne (Carl) Strubberg, Richmond, Texas, Jeff (Katherine) Schroeder, Union, Paul (Debbie) Schroeder, Washington, Sarah (Tad) Krolicki, Wausau Wisconsin, Ted (Kelly) Schroeder, Union, and Chuck (Ali) Schroeder, Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She also is survived by four stepdaughters, Nancianne (Don) Adams, Pam (Kent) Gardner, Joyce (John) Tarpoff and Debbie (Stan) Crader. She is further survived by 21 grandchildren, Brandon (Valarie) Strubberg, Nathan (Nikki) Strubberg, Katie Strubberg (Jace Bidwell), Annie Schroeder, Cole Schroeder, Abby Schroeder, Madelyn Bogler, Amelia Bogler, Charlotte Bogler, Andrea (Ryan) Klein, Hannah (Austin) Byrne, Austin (Morgan) Schroeder, Ali (Hersh) Kumbhani, Jesselyn (Kelly) Helms, Ted (Chelsea) Krolicki, Caroline Krolicki, Laura Schroeder, Will Schroeder, Corinne Schroeder, Charlie Schroeder and Henry Schroeder; and seven great-grandchildren, Jack Strubberg, Ellie Strubberg, Thomas Strubberg, Abby Strubberg, Ada Klein, Oliver Klein and Fielding Krolicki. Finally, she is survived by three sisters-in-law, Patsy McKinney, Sally McKinney and Georgia Schroeder; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles H. Schroeder; second husband, Walter J. Miller; daughter-in-law, Roni Marie Schroeder, her parents; and siblings, Joan Osieck, nee McKinney, Jim McKinney and Joe McKinney.

Visitation was held Sunday, May 15, at Oltmann Funeral Home, Union. A funeral Mass was held Monday, May 16, at Immaculate Conception Church, Union.
