Mary Landing Obituary

Mary Jane Landing, nee Bone, 84, Washington, formerly of St. Clair, departed this life Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, at her granddaughter's home surrounded by the love of her family.

Mary Jane was born Nov. 1, 1930, in Geneva, Ill., the daughter of Charles McKinley Bone and wife Frieda Henrietta, nee Cordes. She was united in marriage to Leo Charles Landing Jan. 23, 1951, and three children came to bless this union.

Mary Jane was a devoted Christian, and in her younger years attended Mount Zion Baptist Church, St. Clair. In recent years, she enjoyed attending Great Commission Baptist Church, Washington. She loved to share the Word of God and see people's lives change for the glory of God. During her working years, she worked with her husband, Leo, for many years at Leo's Service Station, St. Clair. Later in life, she enjoyed working at Holy Trinity Day Care, loving and being loved by the children. She enjoyed many hobbies and interests, but her favorite pastime was watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in whatever they were participating in or doing. She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, fishing and playing card games with her family. She was an avid Cardinals baseball fan and liked keeping score of every single game. The love created and shared with her family gave her great joy.

Mary Jane is survived by two children, Terry Jobe and husband Robin, St. Clair, and Steven Landing and wife Terri, Washington; six grandchildren, Amy Hall and husband Aaron, Staci Gallegos and husband Wes, all of Union, Daniel Jobe and wife Meredith, Avon, Conn., Matthew Jobe and wife Sara, JAG of the U.S. Air Force, Misawa, Japan, Melissa Humphreys and husband Anthony, Washington, and Katie Coen and husband Josiah, Carthage; one sister, Patsy King, Lake Ozark; 10 great-grandchildren, Evan and Payton Hall, Jackson and Parker Jobe, Melanna Jobe, Ethan, Madelyn, Tyler and Amelia Jane Humphreys, and Alexus Jo Gallegos; one brother-in-law, Jerry Landing and wife Virginia, St. Clair; many nieces; nephews; great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Landing; one son, Randy Landing; her parents; one brother, Charles L. Bone, and one sister, Mildred Stahlman.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with the Rev. Tom Smith and Mary Jane's family officiating.

Interment was in Midlawn Memorial Gardens, Union.

Memorials may be given to Great Commission Baptist Church, Washington.
