Nellie A. Manning

Nellie Ann Manning, nee Peredoe, 85, St. Clair, departed this life Saturday, March 24, 2018, in St. Clair.

Nellie was born Oct. 14, 1932, in Herculaneum, the daughter of Ernest Peredoe and wife Daisy, nee Lore. On March 22, 1952, she was united in marriage to Walter Leon Manning, and seven children came to bless this union.

Nellie was a Christian, and in past years attended Victory Church, now Roots Church, in St. Clair. She lived an active and full life, and enjoyed living on their farm. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening and raising beautiful flowers. She loved animals and liked watching her husband and children ride their horses in horse shows. She was a talented seamstress and also did crocheting and embroidery. Quilting was a favorite pastime. She enjoyed the fellowship of other farm wives who participated in the Women's Farm Club. Nellie also was a talented artist and did drawings and paintings. Nothing made Nellie happier than spending time with her children and grandchildren, and each of them held a special place in her heart.

Nellie is survived by four sons, Walter L Manning Jr., known to all as Butch, and wife Jamie, Cuba, Mo., John Manning and wife Jacqueline, Troy Manning and wife Becky, and Scott Manning and wife Michelle, all of St. Clair; three daughters, Dawn Hawkins and husband Glenn, Sullivan, Wendy Henderson and husband Tim, Lonedell, and Lisa Cox, St. Clair; one brother, Joseph Peredoe, Sullivan; two sisters, Tena Delmain and husband Bernard, St. Clair, and Bonnie Sue Stufflebean, Sullivan; 20 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; great, great-great and great-great-great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. Manning Sr.; one daughter, Sandra Kay Mohler; three grandchildren, Jeremiah Dace, Christopher Hawkins and Joanna Lynn Click; her parents, Ernest and Daisy Peredoe; two brothers, Charles and Cletus Peredoe; and two sisters, Jean Wiles and Evelyn Koch.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with the Rev. Charles Keith officiating.

Interment was in Crestview Memorial Park, St. Clair.
