Nova Davis Obituary

Nova "Nub" Lee Davis Jr., Villa Ridge, passed away Friday, Sept. 16, 2022, at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 10 days.

He was born Nov. 6, 1949, in St. Louis to Nova and LaVerne, nee Toben, Davis. He was united in marriage to Patricia, nee Collins, Davis, Sept. 24, 1982. They would have celebrated their 40th anniversary in just a few days.

Nub proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he earned the following awards: Purple Heart with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Metal, Parachute Badge, Vietnam Service Metal, Army Commendation Medal W/V Device, Bronze Star W/V Device, Vietnam Campaign Metal and a Good Conduct Metal. He was a member of the 101st Airborne Division, Screaming Eagles.

Nub was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion Post 320 and UAW Local 110. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals with his wife, Pat, loved nature, mushroom hunting, woodworking, cooking and motorcycling, but most of all, he loved his family.

In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by two children, Jessica and husband Kermet McLauchlin, and Joshua Davis; two sisters, Janice and husband Michael Boucher, and Michelle Davis; one brother, Charles (Verena) Davis; and one grandson, Jahan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, James and Douglas McPherson; three brothers, Stanley Sullentrup, Raymond Sullentrup and Frank Davis; and two sisters, Debbie, nee Davis, Hicks, and Cherie, nee Davis, Zigglemeyer.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Sept. 20, from 4-7 p.m. at Bell Funeral Home, Pacific.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Lange officiating.

Interment, with full military honors, followed at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis.

In lieu of flowers, the Davis family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the Patriot Guard.
