Robert Sosnowski Obituary
Robert "Bob" Sosnowski, 90, of Beaufort, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, in Union, Missouri.
Bob was born Sept. 3, 1934, in St. Louis, to Stephen and Genevieve (nee' Pizinski) Sosnowski. He grew up in St. Louis and graduated from Jennings High School. He was united in marriage to Carol Vogelsang on June 21, 1958 at St. Jacobi Lutheran Church in Jennings, and the couple made their home in Jennings. While living in Jennings, Bob owned and operated a landscape business, Trim Lawn Care. He later began working as an automotive mechanic at Sears at Northwest Plaza.
While still living in Jennings, Bob began building a home in Beaufort. In 1973, Bob completed his new home, and he and Carol moved to Beaufort. The couple started Sunny Meadow Farms and Greenhouse. Together, they owned and operated the business for many years. Bob was also a farmer and farmed cows, pigs, and various crops throughout the years. When he wasn't working, Bob enjoyed working on classic cars. He built a 1932 Model T and restored a 1950 Hudson. He also enjoyed building and flying remote control model airplanes. Bob never met a stranger and could make friends with anyone he met. He was an expert conversationalist and loved to spend time visiting with friends, neighbors, and even complete strangers.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Bob opposed the Union Dam Project and made several trips to Jefferson City to advocate against the building of a dam near Union. He was a founding member of Bourbeuse River Clean Stream and served as President of the organization from 1984-1988. Bob was a very involved, active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Beaufort for many years. He later became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Union and was an active member for many years. He was also a member of the Highway 30 Car Club and the Iris Society.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Sosnowski; his parents, Stephen Sosnowski and Genevieve Niedzialek; and one sister, Patty.
He is survived by one brother, Carl Sosnowski and wife Marilyn, of O'Fallon, MO; two nieces; cousins, Dennis Sheehan and wife Elizabeth, of Fenton, MO, and Kathleen Eagan and husband Dennis, of Ballwin, MO; close friends and neighbors, Gary and Karen Gerlemann, of Beaufort, MO; along with other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Union, with the Rev. Mat Hayter officiating.
Burial followed in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Beaufort.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Preschool.
The Sosnowski family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Union.
