Steve, son of the late William C. and Eveline C. (Layne) Bockting, was born Oct. 23, 1948, in Morrison. He was the husband of Donna (Schweerkotting) Bockting. They were united in marriage Aug. 26, 1972, at Assumption Church, Morrison.

Steve was a member of St. George Parish, Hermann; St. George Cemetery Committee, Hermann; Mississippi Valley Equipment Association board from 1999 to 2005, serving as president in 2004; Frene Valley Investment Club; Ham Breakfast Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1328.

In the early 1980s, he drove for Beauford Transfer Trucking Co. and Hines Implement, part time. In 1986, Steve and his father-in-law, Lyonel Schweerkotting, purchased a John Deere dealership becoming L & S Equipment in Hermann, which he co-owned and operated until 2010.

Farming was a passion of his. He loved to be busy working on equipment and especially putting up hay. He enjoyed going on fishing trips with friends and family. He loved traveling with friends and especially his family. You could often see Steve attending his grandchildren's sporting events and activities. Every year around Steve's birthday, he looked forward to having a family/friends hayride at his home.
