Theresa L. Durbin

1958 - 2023

Theresa Lynne Durbin, nee Groves, 65, Union, passed away Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, in Washington, surrounded by her loving family.

Theresa was born Jan. 13, 1958, in Ballwin, to Gerald Groves and wife Ina, nee Carringer. She grew up in the Ballwin area and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1976. She continued her education at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield. Theresa was united in marriage to Mike Durbin on June 28, 1980, in Ballwin, and their marriage was blessed with three children. The couple made their home in Pacific, and they moved to Union in 1986.

Theresa was a homemaker and spent her time caring for her family and their home. She loved cooking, sewing, knitting, and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. Theresa also enjoyed canning and preserving. She had a passion for crafting and loved creating unique gifts for special occasions and beautiful gowns for weddings and special events. Theresa loved her family and friends dearly and created so many special memories that will live on in the hearts of those she loved.

Theresa is survived by her loving husband of 43 years Mike Durbin, Union; three children, Amy Durbin, Wright City, Laura Gruen and husband Daniel, James Durbin, all of Union; two grandchildren, Stinson and Hazel Gruen; one brother, Tim Groves and wife Stephanie, Hartsburg; one uncle, Bud Carringer, Cherryville; sister-in-law, Pat Horan and husband Charlie, Linn; along with many other relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Ina Groves, and her parents-in-law, Floyd and Velma, nee West, Durbin.

A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at Oltmann Funeral Home, Union.

Burial followed at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, Bland.
