Theresa M. Overschmidt

1938 - 2024

Confirmed in the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, Theresa Marie Overschmidt, nee Stowe, 86, Union, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024, at her home.

Theresa was born Feb. 2, 1938, in Washington, to Hardee Stowe and wife Mamie, nee Hoelscher. She grew up in Washington and graduated from St. Francis Borgia High School in 1956. She was united in marriage to Robert Overschmidt on May 21, 1960, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Union. The couple made their home in Union, and their marriage was blessed with six children.

Theresa worked as a legal secretary for many years and retired from Hansen-Steirberger-Downard & Mellenbrink Law Firm in 2000. Theresa loved her family dearly and enjoyed the many opportunities she was blessed with to spend time with her family members and dear friends. She enjoyed going on road trips in the fall with her husband to see the leaves on trees changing colors, going on camping trips, hosting barbecues with her family, collecting coffee mugs, and spending time with those she cherished

In recent years, Theresa spent time watching "Blue Bloods," mostly because she was a big fan of Tom Selleck and was quick to let everyone know she thought he was "a hunk." Theresa was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, and Western Catholic Union.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Overschmidt and wife Cyndi, Washington, Don Overschmidt and wife Maria, Indiana; three daughters, Jane Luechtefeld and husband Paul, Leslie, Amy Royle and husband Matthew, Florida, Susan McClung and husband Adam, Union; eight grandchildren, Dustin Overschmidt, Lauryn Kleinberg (Seth), Zach Luechtefeld, Emily Luechtefeld, Morgan Overschmidt, Jayden Overschmidt, Keira McClung, and Gwendylan McClung; one great-grandson, Colt Click; nieces; nephews; and many other relatives and dear friends.

Theresa was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Robert Overschmidt; her daughter, Connie Overschmidt; two brothers, Hardee Stowe (late wife Joann), Carl Stowe (late wife Bea); and two sisters, Jeanette Lottmann (late husband Marvin) and Geraldine Stowe, in-infancy.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Union, with the Rev. Peter Blake officiating.

Interment will be held privately at the church cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Masses or Franklin County Humane Society.
