Daniel Hedges Obituary

Daniel James Hedges
May 14, 1937 - August 4, 2025
Daniel James Hedges passed away on August 4, 2025, in Medford, Oregon.
Born on May 14, 1937, in Wenatchee, Washington, to parents Evelyn and Bob Hedges, Dan was the oldest of five children. On July 21, 1962, Dan married Meridel Swan in Portland, Oregon.
A graduate of Waterville High School, Dan enrolled in Kinman Business University in Spokane, earning a Master of Accounts, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Southern Oregon University in Ashland. His academic preparation laid the groundwork for a career in finance where he worked in private industry, municipal government, and the Oregon Department of Justice before his retirement in 1995.
Outside of work Dan enjoyed traveling, reading, and doing volunteer work. He loved being outdoors. He found solace in gardening, hiking, fishing, water skiing, snow skiing, bicycling, playing softball, volleyball, and pool. Rocky Point, Oregon, held a special place in Dan's heart, serving as the backdrop for many of his most treasured memories.
Dan was preceded in death by his son James F. (Rick) Hedges. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Meridel Hedges; son Robert C. Hedges (Amy Hedges); and two granddaughters Reianne and Adelaine Hedges. A celebration of life will be held on September 27 in the Rogue Valley Manor.
