Joseph Schuck Obituary

Joseph F. Schuck, Jr., 78, of Englewood, FL (formerly of Minooka, IL) passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL after a courageous battle. Joe was born March 30, 1939 in Naperville, IL to Joseph F. Schuck, Sr. and Frances (Sklodes) Schuck.

The family settled in Minooka when Joe was of high school age and graduated from Minooka High School, class of 1957. He farmed the Schuck and Heap family farms for many years. Joe also worked in the construction trade as a heavy equipment operator (Local 150) on many different job sites. He dabbled in real estate and other endeavors before retiring. He was active with the Minooka Fire Department for many years and was Fire Chief in the early 70's. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, snowmobiling, and cook-outs with friends and family. When Joe retired to Englewood (early 2000) he puttered in golf and loved to boat and fish - but never eating anything he caught. He enjoyed working in his yard and gardening - growing lemons as big as your head. In his last few years, he enjoyed sunny days and parades in his special cars - Ford Model A and the Tiffany. He also enjoyed day trips with Pauline and their friends. He was a member of the local Elks, Moose, AmVets and American Legion and enjoyed his memberships and service to those clubs. Joe was also the founder of the annual reunion vacation trips with his children and grandchildren. He and Pauline traveled to meet the kids and grandkids in Branson, MO for several years, and then ventured to Magnet, IN on the Ohio river and to the Chattanooga, TN area this last trip in July 2017. Many great memories were made on those trips.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Ken Kleveland. He is survived by his loving companion, Pauline Dunham and family; daughters Jane Kleveland (late Ken) of Mt. Morris, IL and Julia (Hal) Deutsch of Plano, TX, and son Joseph Benjamin (Alli) Schuck of Montgomery, IL; his grandchildren; Kameron, Kelsey (Chris) and Jacob (Jenn) Kleveland; Jason (Taylor), Jeremy and Katie Deutsch; and Quinn Schuck; one brother, Don Schuck (Jacque), and nephew Don Jr. (Ronette), along with very special friends in the Englewood area.

Services will be held Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Englewood Community Funeral Home, 3070 South McCall Road, Englewood, Florida. Visitation will be from 10:00 am - noon and 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm with a memorial service to begin at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, we ask you to consider a donation to one of the local service organizations mentioned above, or other charity of choice. Thank you to all for your care and support for our Dad/Grandpa during these last few months. He will be greatly missed.
