Ada Belle Donahue

Ada Belle Donahue Devoted Mother and Grandmother Ada Belle Blystone Donahue, 72, formerly of 2431 Peach St., died on Friday morning at the St. Vincent Health Center following an extended illness. A resident of Erie since 1963, she was born in Richmond, Indiana County, Pa. on July 7, 1932 a daughter of the late Lyle and Mary Ada Vanhorn Blystone. She enjoyed cooking and baking, loved country music and was a member of the Seneca Nation. She was a close friend of the Jimmy Stewart family while living in Indiana County. She and her sisters and brothers formed a musical group named the “Indiana Ramblers” and were the first group aired on the first radio station in Indiana County WDAD. Survivors include a son James Donahue and his wife Linda of Homer City, Pa.; 2 daughters, Beverly Bizzarro and her husband Albert and Linda Dunn and her husband Scott, all of Erie; 2 sisters Dorothy Airgood and her husband Paul of Indiana, Pa. and Thelma Starry of Erie; 2 sister in laws, Avonell Donahue of Alhambra, Calif. and Betty Donahue of Indiana, Pa.; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband James Marks Donahue in 1983; 3 brothers, Bob, George and Jim Blystone; 3 sisters, Madelyn Wolfgang, Leona Airgood and Lula Harmon. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave. Sunday 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to services there on Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
