Albert Davies Obituary

Albert S. Davies, Jr. Formerly of Erie Albert S. Davies, Jr., 80, resident of Lake Forest, Calif., and formerly of Erie, died on Monday, September 19, 2005, in Calif., following a lengthy illness. He was born in Erie on December 7, 1924, a son of the late Albert S. Davies, Sr. and Hazel Adams Davies. He moved to Calif. in 1965. Albert had been the store manager of Wallich's Music & Entertainment Co., retiring in 1990 after 32 years with the company. He had also taught school in Calif. He studied theology at Mt. Carmel College in Niagara Falls, Ontario, music at the State University of N.Y. in Fredonia, and English at Gannon College in Erie. An Army veteran of WWII, he enjoyed music, art, gardening, and geneology. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Marian Kyzer Davies; two daughters, Dana Marcotte and her husband Jamie, of Corinth, N.Y., and Abigail Davies of Savannah, N.Y.; a son, Evan Davies and his wife Christine, of Corinth, N.Y.; and two sisters, Florence Wiegand and Elaine Zboyovski, both of Erie. Seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by a son, Byron Brecht Davies, in 1979; two brothers, Evan Davies in WWII, and Thomas Davies in 1993; two sisters, Hazel Sitzler Burke in 2001, and Nancy Mack in 2002. Friends may attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence Park at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2005. Private burial will be on the family plot in Lakeside Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Rd.
