Alice I. Heffner Groves

Alice I. Heffner Groves, age 85, of Erie, died at her residence, Wednesday, January 23, 2013. Born in DuBois, Pa., May 7, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Jacob W. and Margaret J. (Reasinger) Heffner. Alice graduated from DuBois High School and was later employed by Singer Sewing Machine Co., Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and Conway and O'Malley. She was a member of the American Legion Post #771 Auxiliary and Christ United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and crafts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death, in 1999 by her husband of 49 years, Donald G. Groves, whom she married December 23, 1949 in DuBois, Pa.; five brothers, Floyd, Edward, Fred, Leonard "Tony" and Jacob Heffner; four sisters, Nellie Minnes, Anna Bell Turner Fike, Emma Travis Susty and Sara Kelley Pasierb. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Heffner Zemach Plyler, of DuBois, Pa. and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 W. 38th St., at Greengarden Blvd., Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m., at which time a funeral service will be conducted by Rev.
