Benjamin Hynes Obituary

Benjamin David Hynes, age 1 year 10 months, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on Monday, June 14, 2021. Born in Erie on July 24, 2019 he was the son of Christopher and Jessica (Drayer) Hynes.

Ben had a contagious smile accented by the bluest of eyes and will be remembered as a child that always liked to make everyone laugh. He enjoyed everything about dinosaurs, watching Jurassic Park and Blue Clues, and making a mess of his sister's room and toys. He was known to use large amounts of ketchup when he ate and push his trains around for hours at end, often into his parent's ankles. He loved playing his sister's keyboard and chasing the family dogs around the house with treats (Crosby and Woo-Woo). He enjoyed drawing chalk pictures in the driveway with his big sister and best friend, Norah. At the end of the day when he was tired, he loved having his belly tickled until he fell asleep. Most of all, he always found a way to have fun.

Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister, Norah Cecilia Hynes; paternal grandfather, Daniel E. Hynes of Erie; paternal grandmother, Stacey L. McKinney (Randy Illig); maternal grandfather, David Gorton (Vickie Saulsgiver); maternal grandmother, Bonnie Gorton (Joe Zdarko) all of Warren; an aunt, Haley (Hynes) Noonan (Stephen) of Erie; an uncle, Dustin Gorton, of Warren; and three cousins, Jordyn, Jayda, and Jaxson Noonan.

Friends may call on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St., at Greengarden Blvd., and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral mass at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, 2401 West 38th St. Private burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highmark Caring Place, 510 Cranberry St., Erie, PA 16507. Condolences may be expressed at www.bruggerfuneralhomes.com.
