Bruce Michael "Mike" Mailahn, age 72, of Erie, passed away unexpectedly, on Friday, September 6, 2019, at UPMC Hamot.

He was born in Peoria, Ill., on September 15, 1946, the son of the late Earl E. and Pauline Adams Mailahn.

He was a 1964 graduate of McDowell High School and received a degree in Business from Gannon University.

He served in the United States Navy. He worked over 19 years as Payroll Manager at Gannon University, and then was co-founder of ErieNet.

Mike was a Masonic Mason, a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Erie, and Zem Zem Temple Shrine. He loved sports and playing softball with the Erie Rec League. He was a longtime, avid Chicago Bears fan. One of Mike's passions, that brought him much enjoyment, was being a Pirate reenactor. He also enjoyed video games.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Marjorie Dombeck Mailahn; his daughter Adrian Mailahn; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at the convenience of the family. Burial is in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th St.

Dar and I were shocked and saddened when we received a call from Marge telling us of Mike's death.
Dar and I worked with Mike at Gannon Unv.
We shared many good memories of all the fun times we had with Mike, Marge and Adrian. Our son, Danny and Adrian were the same age.
Mike was the Best Man and Marge the Maid of Honor at our wedding.
We traveled together to many places and were always at each other's homes on weekends playing cards and board games.
The love we shared as friends was very deep and very real.
Dar, Danny and I extend our deepest condolences to Marge and Adrian.
Until we meet again...........

Set sail Captain, on the salty sea air as we raise a glass too you. For you are now sailing on the greatest ship ever. On a voyage to the greatest and final treasure that waits for us all. May your winds be steady and star shine bright. But for me, my flag flies low to say we will miss you. My condolences to you all. I had the pleasure of knowing Mike (as well as his daughter) through the Great Lakes Medieval Faire. Mike, or Marvis Mahem as we knew him, was so much fun. Lots of mischief to him and a great sense of humor! Always told a few good jokes, and a few groaners! :) I will miss him, the days will be a bit dimmer in Avaloch without his presence. I know the road ahead of you will be long, and hard. I hope your memories will offer you comfort during the days ahead.

Mike was a colleague at Gannon University.
