Claudia L. Campbell

1935 - 2018

Claudia L. Campbell, age 83, of Mill Village, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Edinboro Manor. Born in Cambridge Springs on April 28, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Herbert Stone and Ethel Cecelia Smock Stone.

Claudia was a proud Cambridge Springs Blue Devil graduating with the class of 1953. She continued her education at Erie Business Center and went on to work a short time at Hammermill and a local radio station. On February 22, 1957, she married Eugene Campbell of Edinboro and eventually partnered with him to form E.G. Campbell Trucking, where she served as bookkeeper until their retirement in 2010.

Claudia was passionate about her faith and family, and it was reflected in her activities. She was a den mother, a proud Mill Village Elementary parent, and an honorary lifetime PTA member. She loved carting her kids and grandkids to VBS and youth group, and she served as AWANA secretary for some time at Union City Alliance Church.

Music was an important part of her childhood home in Cambridge Springs, and she continued this love by playing piano and organ for church through her adult life. She greatly enjoyed playing and singing for many weddings, and playing for the "Washington Valley Trio". Claudia enjoyed gardening, bird watching, geocaching, reading, playing video games, and genealogy. She was a family historian and spent many hours building and researching her children's family tree.

Sports was an important part of family life and she loved keeping score for softball and baseball games.

In addition to her parents, Claudia was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene G. Campbell, who died November 17, 2015; and four brothers- Ivan, Carl, Charles, and Al Stone.

Family survivors include her six children, Lawrence Campbell of Waterford, Lorraine Campbell of Mill Village, Woodrow Campbell and wife Darlene of Erie, Wynita Campbell of Mill Village, Gwendolyn Campbell of Mill Village, and Rachel Yomes and husband David of Butler, Pa.; also, 26 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, James Stone and wife Colleen of Merritt, Fla., and Doug Stone and wife Esther of Markelton, Pa..

Friends may call at Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford on Wednesday, August 22nd from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery on Thursday morning, followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. at the Union City Alliance Church.
