Barter

Life has loveliness to sell,
All beautiful and splendid things,
Blue waves whitened on a cliff,
Soaring fire that sways and sings,
And children's faces looking up
Holding wonder like a cup.

Life has loveliness to sell,
Music like a curve of gold,
Scent of pine trees in the rain,
Eyes that love you, arms that hold,
And for your spirit's still delight,
Holy thoughts that star the night.

Spend all you have for loveliness,
Buy it and never count the cost;
For one white singing hour of peace
Count many a year of strife well lost,
And for a breath of ecstasy
Give all you have been, or could be.

I am profoundly grateful to have had the experience of serving on the Diocesan Liturgical Commission and working with Father Kraus over the years. His commitment and dedication to Liturgy have significantly contributed to his legacy.

May we find peace and comfort in remembering how he enriched our lives with his presence and for the many gifts that he left to us.

I had the wonderful opportunity to dine with Conrad, my wife and friends in Minneapolis the Friday before Holy Week this year. We has such a good time of great conversation and food. I will remember that last dinner with Conrad for a long long time.

I met Conrad back in the 60s when I was a student and Altar boy at St Andrew's Church. Conrad encouraged me then to go to Prep, and then again for my Masters at Fordham University. It was because of him that I became a leader in the field of Religious Education.

I am filled with gratitude for his relationship with me in my youth and through out my life.

I will miss the cards, the travels and him very much.

Dear Monsignor and family,

John 11: 25-26 states,

"I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die."

Kathy and I offer our sympathy to you and the entire family on your passing into eternal life. We owe a debt of gratitude to Monsignor for having studied the Theology of the Sacraments in the 2nd year of the Formation Diaconate Program. Throughout that year, Monsignor brought us humanly closer, in a divine way, of God's presence to us in each sacrament. For that, we will be deeply indebted to such a wonderful, holy man.

God Bless, Prayers, and Love,

Deacon Chuck and Kathy Adamczyk

My memories of Conrad Kraus home in on the Kraus cottages on Lake Erie. We shared stories of Necco wafers that he used to measure the travel time of the places he would drive to. I visited his mother, Adele, my godmother, and checked on how her Atlanta Braves were doing. My wife, Nancy, and I pray for Conrad and all the people who have been blessed to have known him.

Dear Conrad - you have taught me so very much over the years and I'm sure it's why I love the Eucharistic celebrations so passionately. The FDLC meetings, especially the one in Arizona when you, Sr. Kathleen, Sue and I crossed the border and heard "Spanish Eyes" will live on forever in my memory and no doubt bring many a smile. Rest in Peace-you will always be missed.

Conrad treated every celebration of the Liturgy of the Eucharist as a fortetaste of the Heavenly Banquet. What he didn't seem to recognizne nearly often enough was the extent to which we, his friends, beheld in him the very Presence of Christ. Thank you, dear Conrad, for living out your priesthood in the most authentic way imaginable. We will miss you profoundly. . . .
