Doris Metro Obituary

Doris Nelson Metro Doris Nelson Metro, age 90, Saturday, June 3, 2006 at her residence, 10644 W. Main Rd.. She was born on February, 7, 1916 in Ridgway, Pa. a daughter of the late William and Grace Gardner Nelson. Doris was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in North East. She enjoyed cooking, baking, flowers and doing things with her grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Walter Metro on July 6, 2001; an infant daughter, Eileen Metro and six brothers, Carl, Earl, Robert, George, Milton and Norman Nelson. Doris is survived by two daughters, Katrina McDougall and her husband Dennis of Union City, Pa. and Janine Cook of North East, one sister, Edith Anderson of Mesa Ariz. and one brother, Milfred Nelson of Ridgway, Pa. Also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the W. Tad Bowers Funeral Home, Independent Care Group Affiliate, 92 S. Lake St., North East, Pa. on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend funeral services there on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Rev. Charles Wertz, pastor of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church will officiate. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Oakmont Cemetery, Ridgway, Pa. Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1500 Freeport Rd., North East, PA 16428, Community Nursing Services of North East, 7 Park St., North East, PA 16428 or to the charity of ones choice. Doris cleaned the house of my mother, Alice Suerken.She was beloved in our householk and was like a member of our family. When she'd come, she'd always arrived with a home-baked goodie. She and Mother will be together in heaven.
