Frank Occhipinti Obituary


Frank Occhipinti, 91, of Erie, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Elmwood Gardens. He was born in Erie, Pa. on August 26, 1922, a son of the late Vincent and Mary (DiCarlo) Occhipinti.

Frank proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII, in the 548th Ord. H.M. Co., in England, France, Belgium, Germany, Czechoslovakia, and landed on Omaha Beach on September 19th, 1944. He was employed as a wood pattern maker at Standard Pattern Works. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church.

He was preceded in death by sister, Mae Occhipinti.

He is survived by a sister, Josephine "Josie" Tullio (Robert) of Erie; a brother, Cosimo Occhipinti (Dena) of California; nieces and nephews, Robert A. Tullio, Karen A. Sturm, Vincent Occhipinti, Cosimo Occhipinti and Ann Marie Occhipinti; many great-nieces and nephews also survive.

A special thank you to the staff and nurses at Elmwood Gardens for the wonderful care Frank received during his stay there, especially to Chris, Beth and Jane.

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street, at Greengarden Boulevard, and are invited to attend a prayer service on Thursday at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at Blessed Sacrament Church at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Erie VA Hospital Recreation Fund, 135 East 38th Street, Erie, PA 16504.
