George Byers Obituary
He graduated from McDowell High School in 1960 and went on to work with AMSCO (Steris) as a Fabricator for 44 years. He was a Scout Master to Troop 144 for years with his sons.
In retirement he volunteered with Chosen International and worked part time as a driver with Ferrando Ford. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church for over 40 years.
George loved car shows and always entered his 1976 Corvette Stingray.
He fished often, enjoyed making others laugh and spoke fluent sarcasm.
George is survived by his wife, Martha "Marty" Byers, whom he married on August 29, 1964 at St. Peter's Cathedral in Erie; his children, Mark Byers of Atlanta, Ga., Mary Byers of Tulsa, Okla., Mike Byers of Fredrick, Md., Matt Byers of Tampa, Fla., Melissa Leonard (Ronda Bowen) of Midlothian, Va., Chris Byers (Suzanne) of Lake City, Pa., Liz Byers of Lake City, Pa. and Christina Shallenberger (Paul) of Millcreek, Pa. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, 101 Olin Ave., Girard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. John's Catholic Church.

George (Toby) will be missed. I´ll especially miss seeing him out and about riding on the lawn mower mowing the lawn, tending to yard work about the house, and being one of the first outside snow blowing . He loved his family showing it in a lot of little ways and was a great neighbor for many years. Rest In Peace.
