Gustave Roy Patsy

Gustave Roy Patsy, age 79, of McKean, passed away at home, on Tuesday, July 7th, 2015. Born in Fredonia, New York, on May 2nd, 1936, he was a son of the late Guido and Sadie (Mangus) Pasty.

Gus was a graduate of Academy High School, Class of 1954, and he received a football scholarship to Purdue, as a quarterback. He excelled in many sports in school, and always enjoyed attending his class reunions.

He served in the US Navy. He was an avid trap shooter, winning many awards, and was a founding member of the Bay City Gun Club. He enjoyed drag racing, where he won "King of the Hill" for the fastest car. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and bowling.

Beginning his work career as a tile setter, he founded City Tile & Carpet in 1970.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Helene (Landry) Patsy; his children, Scott A. Patsy, Mark J. Patsy, wife Colleen, Russell G. Patsy, wife Michelle, and Christa A. Peterson, all of Erie; and a stepdaughter, Dr. Tara J. Palmatier; his beloved dog, Mikey; 14 grandchildren, Amanda Patsy, Gary Patsy, Maria Bailey, Gustave Pizzuto, Amelia and Sophia Patsy, Tyler Patsy, Olivia Patsy, Paige and Patrick, Ryan and Jesse Patsy, and Nicholas and Laura Peterson; and five great- grandchildren: Ivan Peterson, Zoe and Brendan Bailey, and Vincent and Gloria Pizzuto. He is further survived by his brother, Guy Patsy, wife Patricia, of Boca Raton, Fla.; his sister, Carol A. Solomon, of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and his brother, Paul A. Patsy, of Erie; and his best friends, Marcia Anthony of Erie, and Jack Laraway, of Naples, Fla.

In addition to spending time with his family, Gus' favorite time was spent watching the many animals that graced his property. Gus was a gentle soul and will be missed by many.

In addition to his parents, Gus was preceded in death by his son, Gary G. Patsy of London, Ky.; his brother-in-law, Dr. Jack Solomon, of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and a dear friend, Richard J. Anthony of Erie.
