Herbert James Luke

1932 - 2017

Herbert James Luke, age 85, of Erie, formerly of North East, died on Sunday, October 1, 2017, at Millcreek Community Hospital. He was born on July 9, 1932, in Greenfield Township, Pa., the son of the late Walter and Esther (Prodel) Luke. Herbert was employed by several grape farms in North East for several years. He loved spending time with his family and was the "best dad ever." He enjoyed farming, dancing, and working on cars. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lester and Henry Luke; sisters, Helen Sinden, Eleanor Walker, and Florence Witcher; and a great-grandson, Lucas Warren. Herbert is survived by his daughters, Vicky Alford (Tim) and Yvonne Reed (Will) both of North East; a son, Rick Luke (Debbie) of Erie; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; his extended family; and close friend and caregiver, John Bakera.

Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East, on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m., until 5:00 p.m. Private interment Grahamville Cemetery.
