James Frederick Jim Heid

James Frederick "Jim" Heid of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at the age of 72 at his home in Punta Gorda, Florida, after a long extended illness. Born in Erie, Pa., to Mary Alice and Frederick F. Heid.

Jim was a life-long engineer, primarily at ITT Gould's Pumps. He was married to Mary Ann (Amenta) Heid for 30 years until Mary Ann passed away from her battle with cancer in 1997. Jim celebrated marriage with Christine Shipley on January 8, 2000.

In addition to his loving wife, Christine, Jim is survived by sons, James Heid and his wife, Michelle, and Peter Heid and his wife, Sheri; daughter, Krista Perkins; five grandchildren; stepchildren, Melissa, Katie, and Elliott LeFaiver and his wife, Megan; brother, Charles Heid and his wife, Judy; sisters, Alice Murtaugh and her husband, James, Jeanne Heid Grubman and her husband, Howard, and Kathy Heid; and nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life and a memorial mass at St. Patrick's Church, Seneca Falls, N.Y. will be held on Saturday, January 4, at 10 a.m. There will be no prior calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to We Share Hope, a Rhode Island-based food rescue program that helps feed the homeless and poor (60 Willett Avenue, Riverside, RI 02915) or to NEARI Children's Fund, 99 Bald Hill Road, Cranston, RI 02920.
