James Edwin Moore Sr.

James Edwin "Jimmy" Moore, Sr., 67, went home to be with the Lord on August 21, 2012 at the Erie VA Medical Center. He was born in Brazil, Indiana on June 20, 1945, a son of the late Essie J. Moore, Sr. and Maebelle Pope Moore. He moved to Erie with his family as a young child. He was a graduate of Academy High School and earned an associates degree from Erie Business Center. He was a former employee of Welch Food, Inc. Jimmy was a Vietnam era veteran of the U. S. Navy. He enjoyed working in the yard and had his own lawn service. Jimmy loved to read, enjoyed watching movies, listening to music and watching sports. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Larry, Charles and Stanley Moore, and one sister, Yolanda Moore. Jimmy will be dearly missed by his five sons, Steven and James Moore, Clarence, Stefan and Joseph Conley, all of Erie; two brothers, Tyrone B. Moore (Charlise) and Essie J. Moore, Jr. and three sisters, Cynthia Moore, Renee Myers (Henry) and Yvette Moore, all of Erie; 22 grandchildren whom he loved dearly; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and a host of friends. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, 5 to 8 p.m., at Law Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave. The American Legion Post 700 will hold a ceremony at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, 1 p.m., at Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ, 1703 Holland St., with Pastor Willie Harris and Elder Aubrey Favors officiating. Interment will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
