I saw Jack one day and he was telling me he had to get to the airport so he could fly to New York City to see "his" Patrick sing the National Anthem at the Mets game that night. He said, "but I am getting too old for this running around. I touched his arm and I told him he did not feel old at all. The biggest smile appeared on his face and he pulled me into a great hug. What a wonderful memory for me. My sincerest sympathies to all of his loved ones.

To all the Monahans, who I had the great fortune to live next door to on Beverly Drive... It has been decades since I've seen any of you but each and every one of you had, to some degree, an impact on my life. I can't tell you how sorry I was to hear of your dad's passing. He was the coolest dad ever! Such warm memories of him and your mom as our neighbors. I fondly remember him piling all of us in the station wagon and taking us out for ice cream on a hot summer night. My heart goes out to each and every one of you. May the memories comfort you all at this time of sorrow. My very best to Tim, Jack, Scott, Kelly, Tracy, Kerry and Pat.

Dear Pat and Kerry:
I'm so very sorry for your loss. I got to know your dad when he and Pat worked in our tax library at PT&L, CPAs back in the early nineties. I will always remember his kindness, sense of humor and stylish dress. He was always with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye especially when he spoke about his family. He was proud of Pat's success and kept us up to date on Train's happenings. I'm glad I got to know your dad. He will be missed. Keeping you and your family in my prayers.

Pat & family,
What a loss! A quick anecdote about Jack:
I shopped at his store while attending McDowell in 1968. His tailor was a hoot (can't remember his name). Anyway, Jack was a very gracious person. I left Erie in the summer of 1968. I returned in the fall of 1969 without a job. I went to visit Jack during my job-search period because he was close to where I lived & he knew me. At some point I told Jack I had a job interview at LORD Corporation & asked him what I should wear. All of his suggestions were nothing I had or could afford. Jack being Jack, he said he'd dress me for the interview & I could pay him from my 1st paycheck. I did get the job. However, when I went in to his store on my 1st payday, Jack wouldn't take the money. Instead, he said, "You need that for more important things. Come back when you can & buy something." I've never forgotten his kindness & generosity. Your family is truly blessed to have had such a man in your in your lives!

My Uncle Jack was a charming, dapper gentleman. He spoke excellent German (a fact not widely known). Even in his eighties, he was an excellent dresser. (He looked especially great in cashmere) He was always a joy to be with and I loved his company. He also had excellent taste in women. He chose 2 angels to spend his life with: my Aunt Pat, who is seated in heaven right next to Mother Teresa and Anne. Uncle Jack was a great story teller; he loved explaining how in his military time in Germany he had to repeatedly tell the commander of the German prisoners in German to "take those soldiers out of the hot sun." He told this story over and over and always got a huge laugh. Every time I'd see him he'd say, "Mag, take those soldiers out of the hot sun." Sadly, our favorite soldier is now gone. RIP Uncle Jack, wir werden dich sehr vermissen!!
