John Pickens Obituary
John was born on March 29, 1971, in Passaic, N.J., the son of Mary Pickens.
He graduated from Strong Vincent High School with the class of 1989. After completing his LPN training, he held positions at Fairview Manor and Bayada Home Health Care for over seven years and was currently working at Edinboro Manor. He enjoyed singing, dancing and had written and produced his own album, "Push with Me".
Survivors include his mother, Mary Pickens, of Erie, his husband, Tom Jones, of Woodcock, son Jared Pickens, of Erie, daughter, Jasmine Pickens of Erie, sister, Rotica Pickens, of Pittsburgh, sister Vetta Pickens, of North Carolina, sister, Amber Pickens of Erie, and brother Seth Pickens, of Erie. He is further survived by many other siblings, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Friday, January 22, 2021, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. with a funeral service to be held at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Acker-Rodgers Cemetery in Saegertown.

Seeing this makes my heart break into a million pieces you were a HUGE part of my life at Fairview Manor and you will def be missed. You touched so many hearts. My deepest sympathy to Mary, Amber, Seth and entire family. I met John at a cookout at Mary's house about 10 years ago. At that time, I only knew Mary. Guests were arriving and John quickly picked up that I didn't know anyone. He was so kind, welcoming, and funny. He put me at ease and kept me company as I started meeting everyone. They say we don't remember what people say to us but you always remember how they made you feel. I can testify to that. I remember how he made me feel and it was comfortable, welcomed and that he cared. He also had a great sense of humor and made me laugh a lot! I know all of you now and am here for you. Sending Love, prayers and hugs.
