Joseph Curlowicz Obituary

Joseph "Joe" J. Curlowicz, age 89, of Millcreek Twp., died suddenly at St. Vincent Health Center on Sunday, December 12, 2010. He was born in Linesville, Pa., on March 16, 1921, the son of the late Peter and Viola Thomaszewski Curlowicz. He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII in the China, Burma and India Campaign. He was employed at and retired from Bucyrus-Erie after forty years as Quality Control Supervisor. He enjoyed gardening, reading and his dog, Misty. He was preceded in death by five brothers: Stanley, Peter, Leo, George and Frank Curlowicz and three sisters: Pearl Slowikowski, Julia Wysocki, and Stella Podbielski. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Velma M. Bodisch Curlowicz; two sisters, Helen Tanner and Sally Jendrack; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until time of service there at 2:00 p.m. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Erie Humane Society, 2507 Zimmerly Rd., Erie, PA 16506.
