Lee Sanford Obituary

Lee Sanford Lee Sanford, 73, of 240 W. 2nd St., died Sunday, October 2, 2005, at Hamot Medical Center. He was born in Hancock County, Ga., July 12, 1932, son of the late Zack and Maggie Wells Sanford. He had worked at the General Electric Company and had owned his own restaurant at 26th and State Sts. He enjoyed talking to people. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lester Sanford, in 1992; a stepson, John R. Manus, in 1998; four brothers, Woodrow, Zack, Roosevelt, and John Thomas Sanford; and two sisters, Laura and Roberta . Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Sanford of Erie; a son, Andrew Manus of Erie; six stepchildren, Rita Manus and Rose Manus of Erie, Phyllis Manus of Rochester, William Manus, Larry Manus, and Daniel Manus, all of Erie; two sisters, Rosa Mae Franklin, Atlanta, Ga., and Janie Ruth Hurt of Millageville, Ga.; and two brothers, Willie D. Sanford and Henry Sanford, both of Millageville, Ga. Many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Friends are invited to attend a service at the Burton Funeral Home, 602 W. 10th St. on Monday at 2 p.m. Interment in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
