Lucille Kerchansky Obituary

Lucille Tyczkowski Kerchansky Cherished Wife, Mother and Grandmother Lucille Kerchansky, age 63, of 2924 West 23rd Street, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at her residence, surrounded by her family. Born in Erie on May 9, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Casimier and Florence (Lubak) Tyczkowski. After graduating from Academy High School in 1961, and Saint Vincent School of Nursing in 1964, she worked as a nurse at Saint Vincent Health Center. As a member of the Sunshine Group for over 25 years, she created layette sets for newborn babies, which were distributed at the Women’s Care Center, Saint Vincent’s Health Center, and to Hurricane Katrina Relief organizations. She had a passion for sewing, crafting and crocheting, and created liturgical vestments and altar linens for Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, where she was a member, Saint Peter Cathedral and various other churches in the United States and Europe. Lucille did charity work for many organizations, but her greatest love was for her husband, children, and especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Stephen Kerchansky, whom she married in 1966; five children, Karen Clark and her husband Bryan, North East, Suzanne Natalie and her husband Alan, Fairview, Matthew Kerchansky and his wife Amy, Daniel Kerchansky and his wife Alicia, and Michael Kerchansky and his wife Angela, all of Erie; seven grandchildren, Angelina, Melania, Giovanni, Bryanna, Lucas, Quinten, Ian and a baby boy “on the way”; a sister, Marie Diane Lombardo; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Brugger Home for Funerals, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard, Friday from 6 to 9 p.m., with a Panichida Service at 9 p.m. Prayers for the Deceased will be recited at the funeral home Saturday at 10:15 a.m., followed by the Divine Liturgy at 11 o’clock at Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated to a charity at a later date.
