Marilyn Jean Luke, age 74, of Dundee, N.Y., passed away peacefully, in the comfort of her home, with her family at her side, on Tuesday, July 10, 2018.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 13th, at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee, N.Y. There will be no formal service. Inurnment will be private in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kinzua Bridge "State Park," 296 Viaduct Rd., Mt. Jewett, PA 16740.

Marilyn was born on August 2, 1943, in Erie, Pa., the daughter of the late Arthur M. and Angelina (Pircio) Nielsen.

She graduated from Wesleyville High School in 1961, Penn State University with a B.S. in Art Education, and received her Master's Degree in Reading from Potsdam in 1999. On May 27, 1967, in St. Luke's Church, in Erie, Pa., she married James E. Luke; they have lived locally since 1977, previously of Elizabethtown, Pa.

She spent a great deal of time in the area of education, teaching both art, and reading. She was also an instructional graphic artist, and department head. In addition, she was a small business owner involved in the grape industry, learning about grapes and how the grape goes from bloom to wine.

Mrs. Luke was a very active member of society having been a member of the Ladies of the Moose Lodge #1519 Penn Yan, N.Y., the N.R.A., Ogdensburg Garden Club, Dundee & Penn Yan Libraries, Oliver House Museum, Yates County Genealogical Society, and 4-H.

She is loved and will be dearly missed by her husband of 51 years James E. Luke at home, three daughters Elizabeth A. (Curt) Meeder of Sherman, N.Y., Christina I. (Christopher) Brink of Dundee, and Victoria M. (Kyle) Boehmer of Kerrville, Texas, six grandsons Henry and Daniel Meeder, James Boehmer, Christopher "Connor" Brink, and Alexander and John Boehmer, a brother Robert L. (Nancy) Nielsen of Pinehurst, N.C., and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a stillborn daughter Catherine Luke in 1969.
