Michael Doran Obituary
Michael D. Doran, age 80, of Bedford, Va., died at his home, on Monday, May 30, 2016.
He was born in Rocky Grove, Pa., on May 13, 1936, son of the late Helen and Charles Doran.
He attended Rocky Grove High School and graduated from Gannon University in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He also served four years in the United States Air Force.
Michael retired from Tracor, Inc. in 1990, then went on to work as an independent contractor for CRGT until 2013.
He married Elizabeth Ann Edmonds, on June 27, 1959 and after 51 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on May 11, 2011.
He enjoyed going to the YMCA, a nice glass of wine, working on computers, was an avid Washington Redskins fan and a wonderful cook.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Helen Gotham, Florence Doutt, Rosemary Bouquin, Geraldine Fulmer, Delores Hanson, Agnes Doran, Genevieve Rankin, and his brother Charles Doran, Jr.
Michael is survived by his daughter Lisa Doran Barron and her husband Karl, of Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia, and his brother James Doran of Rocky Grove, Pa. He is further survived by sisters -in-law and brother-in laws Kathleen (Edmonds) Smith and Ernest of Erie, Joseph Edmonds and Janet of Yucaipa, Calif., Dennis White, Thomas Edmonds, Rita M. (Edmonds) Kaiser, Robert Edmonds and Peggy, all of Erie, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call at Our Lady of Peace Church, 2401 W. 38th Street, Erie, Pa., on Friday from 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., with a funeral mass to follow immediately. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Arrangements are by the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Bedford YMCA, 1111 Turnpike Road, Bedford, VA 24523, or to Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 1307 Oakwood Street, Bedford, VA 24523. Please mark all donations "In Memory of Michael D. Doran."
