Mildred Chipoletti Obituary

Mildred Joyce “Mimi” Chipoletti Beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother Mildred Joyce “Mimi” Chipoletti, age 74, of Millcreek, passed away at home on December 18, 2007, surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous twelve year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born December 4, 1933, in Findley Lake, the youngest daughter of the late Perry and Clarice Cassell. She worked at the A & P Grocery Store in 1956 where she met her husband, Weido “Chip”. She was a wonderful homemaker all of her married life. She enjoyed painting, sewing, quilting, baking, crossword puzzles, listening to “Froggy 94” radio and most of all a really good laugh. But, her favorite time spent was with her children and her eleven grandchildren. Mimi had a loving, giving heart, always a kind word and a great sense of humor. She had an incredible strength and was always an optimist. She truly was an inspiration to all who knew her. She had a love for animals and was a member of the Humane Society and the National Wildlife Association. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Edward Cassell. Survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Weido “Chip”; three sons, Tim Smith and wife, Nora, of Erie, Neal Chipoletti and wife, Tracy, of Erie, and Jay Chipoletti of Erie; a daughter, Joyce Hempstead and husband, Blair, of Erie; two sisters, June Baxter, of Perrysburg, Ohio, Claire Smith and husband Jay, of Wesleyville; and also, her beloved grandchildren Emily, Ellen, Halle, Julia, Dustin, Anthony, Amanda, Rachel, Andy, Kevin and Kyle. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, lots of friends and a very dear friend, Rose Nesbitt. She will be sadly missed by all. Friends are invited to call at Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home, 4216 Sterrettania Road, Erie, Thursday 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and attend services there on Friday at 12:00 conducted by Rev. Patricia Fuller followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach Street, Suite 244, Erie, PA 16502. Sign the guestbook at www.GoErie.com/obits

Dear Neal, Jay and all of your family,
We are so very sorry to hear of your loss. While I did not know your mom well, she sounds like a truly amazing person. Wish we could be there during this time. I know how difficult it must be. I lost my brother Mike 3 months ago suddenly and while each day gets "easier" the loss never goes away. May you find comfort from each other over the days to come and also knowing that she is in a much better place, free of pain.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

To The Chipoletti Family -
There is no doubt that one of the 'sweetest angels ever' entered the gates of heaven the day Mimi left this earth. She is at peace, looking down upon us, I know, saying I am free from pain - I am free from distress and worry - I am in the arms of God who protects and loves and comforts me. We met Mimi in 1960 and her gentle, sweet smile and her soft, caring voice made you know this was a person who you were grateful came your way in this lifetime. She was a "special LADY" in every single sense of the word 'lady'. Life became busy and our paths began to cross less often ... but then 'fate' brought our lives together once more when our youngest daughter, Pam, and the Chipoletti family came to know one another. Once again we gathered together with Mimi - now suffering with the dreadful disease of cancer. She was the same beautiful, caring, kind, sweet person from years ago ... even though life had dealt her a worrisome blow. No words can adequately describe the fine lady, wife, mother and friend Mimi was to many on this earth ... and now she is at peace looking down upon us - greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. We were blest to have her cross our paths in this lifetime of ours - Our sincere sympathy to the family on your loss - you were touched by an 'angel' in your lifetime with Mimi as a wife and "Mom" .. Mimi's obituary describes to a tee what a wonderful woman she was. I am thankful to have known her. The whole Chipoletti family is one of the best you could ever have the privilege to meet. I thank Mimi & Chip for their wonderful children who are some of my very best friends; a testament to their upbringing. Joyce & my sister, Audrey, were born on the same day. Our moms shared a room & our parents became friends. Years later we reunited them. I've attached one of my favorite pictures from that day.
As hard as it is to lose such a good person from this earth, Mrs. Chip’s suffering is over. There is a better place without the daily grind, trials, tribulations & heartaches of this life; your mother is there now, safe, happy, pain free, watching over you & smiling.
Do not hesitate to call on me if you need anything, be it something major or just a hug. I love you all very much!

Your Wegmans Family :-)
