Neil C. Simmons

Neil C. Simmons Mr. Neil C. Simmons, 87, resident of Gainesville, Florida, died Monday, June 25, 2007 following a long illness. Mr. Simmons was a native of Erie, Pennsylvania, son of the late Harold and Vera McDannel Simmons, who had resided in Gainesville for the past year, having moved here from McIntosh, where he had lived for many years. Mr. Simmons was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was employed for many years as a zone service representative for the Buick Motor division of General Motors. Mr. Simmons was then employed by the Dade County School Board until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the McIntosh Lions Club and attended the McIntosh Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Jane Simmons, three daughters and son-in-laws, Lorie Simmons (Michael Cameron), of Portland, Oregon, Christine (James) Waters, of Boca Raton, and Jeanne (Michael) Sims, of McIntosh; one granddaughter, Sarah Sims, of Micanopy. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the McIntosh Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Ina Boyd, officiating and Rev. Tommy Lane, assisting.
