Robert Lachowski Obituary

Robert A. "Bob" Lachowski, 77, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2021 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, in Forest City, N.C.

He was born on August 5, 1943 in Erie, Pa., to parents Anna Chernek Lachowski and Anthony Lachowski.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Michelle Lachowski, his sister Audrey Lachowski Bacik, and his beloved dog Dakota.

He leaves behind his daughter Suzanne Lachowski, his cousin, Frank Chernek, his dog Kota, and many friends and family.

Bob lived his whole life in Erie, Pa., graduating from Cathedral Prep in 1961 and Gannon University in 1964. He retired from Zurn Industries after working there for 22 years. He was a longtime member of the American Legion. He loved to play golf in his day, and after retiring, he co-owned and managed the Beechwood Golf Course for several years. He loved sports and was a loyal fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians.

In 2018, Bob moved south to North Carolina to be with his daughter Suzanne. He loved the mountain views, enjoyed long rides through the country with his dog Kota, and beating the pants off his daughter in some brutal Rummy 500 games.

Bob passed away from advanced COPD and lung cancer that metastasized to his brain. His wishes were honored and he was cremated with no memorial service. He wanted folks to remember him in happy times with happy memories.

My wife and I are truly sorry to hear about Bob's passing. Bob was a friend at PREP and the last I talked to him was at the golf course. I also knew Frank and about 8 years ago when he was home from China my wife and I had dinner with him and his wife at our house. I just wanted you to know that St. Judes Hospital is our favorite charity and we are making a donation in Bob's name. One of my biggest mistakes in life was, not keeping in touch with your FATHER. Suzie - I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember much happier days when our families would have a huge picnic at your house on Newberger Road and eat, drink, and play Volley Ball ! We all looked forward to those family picnics. Prayers to you Suzie. Carolyn

May Bob rest in peace . I'll always remember his smile and jovial laughter in our younger days. He was truly blessed with a loving heart that always endured.
