Thomas Schertzer Obituary

Thomas J. Schertzer, age 67, of Erie, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, with family at his side. Born in Erie on July 23, 1945, he was a son of the late Ernest and Anna (Orlemanski) Schertzer. During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Navy and later in the Navy Reserve. He had worked at Copes-Vulcan for 27 years. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed golfing and boating, and loved bowling. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Scott Schertzer. He is survived by a son, Craig Schertzer, wife Jerri, of Erie; a brother Donald Schertzer, wife Sandy, of Arizona; two nieces, Laurie Urraro, of Erie and Kara Gooding, of Arizona; and his former wife, Diane Schertzer. Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street, at Greengarden Boulevard, Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m., and to attend a prayer service there Sunday at 11 a.m. Interment will be private, at the convenience of the family.
